Reusing old clips is the basis of Gintama. Make it once, and use it many times.

Sorachi’s Q & A: Hanging with the Readers #125

<Question from Matchbox-san from Saitama Prefecture>

Hello, Sorachi-sensei! I have a question. Why doesn’t Sakamoto use a sword? I really like Sakamoto, so I’m wondering.

Because he likes new things. Sakamoto is a good swordsman, but he’s more of a businessman compared to a samurai pursuing peace, so he’s not very invested in swords. A sword is for battle, whereas a gun is better for self-protection. Something like that.

Sorachi’s Q&A: Hanging with the Readers #118

<Question from “Family Education And Exorcism Are Great But I Still Want To Marry Abuto. I Will Try My Best To Be A Good Wife” from Saitama Prefecture>

How old is Abuto? Please tell the ossan fans like me.

He’s 32. By the way, Abuto was supposed to have died a long time ago, but the more I drew him, the more I liked him, so I decided to let him live. The proof is in the fact that he had a generic crowd character face when he first showed up.

Sorachi’s Q&A: Hanging with the Readers #86

<Question from Okita & Kagura LOVE>

While both Kagura and Kamui have vast appetites, are they the only ones, or does everyone in the Yato clan have vast appetites?

Everyone is a glutton.
While the Yato possess immense physical strength, their rate of energy consumption is also intense, and their sense of replenishment is different from that of earthlings. Even among the Yato, Kagura and Kamui are big eaters.

Sorachi’s Q&A: Hanging with the Readers #93

<Question from I’m Going to See the Movie With Friends from Kyoto>

Why doesn’t Gintama have any character songs?  I have the impression the order is normally: Manga -> Anime -> Character Songs -> (Games) -> Movie.  Or is the reason that if Gintama characters sang, something bad would happen?

Well, Otsuu-chan has a CD out.  And thanks to your support, it seems it sold quite well.  Thanks a lot, everyone.  I’m not really against character songs.  It’s just maybe that when the Gintama characters get told to sing a song, no one really does.  Or maybe that whenever they’re told to sing a song about themselves, they always make a joke out of it and don’t finish.  I think they’d break the mics, wouldn’t they?  But if there’s someone like Otsuu-chan who likes to sing, I’m sure it would be fine.  Like Vacuum.  If it’s necessary, I’ll be fine with it.

Side A: Vaccum, Side B: Crapxile, Bonus Track: Katsu-rap
…or something like that would be great.

Sorachi’s Q&A: Hanging with the Readers #83

<Question from Sorachixko Hideakixtama from Tokyo>

There’s something that’s been bothering me for a while.  Where does Gin-san usually watch porn?  I wouldn’t think at home, where Kagura might see it…

Try asking your father.  It’s the same answer.
